Valuing nature – can carbon pricing solve the climate crisis?
Description of the presentation
The economy does not exist in a vacuum. Economic activity can only happen, because the biosphere offers a stable climate, regular rains, and fertile soils. As the global economy is increasingly operating beyond the planetary boundaries, the collapse of these ecosystems services threatens human welfare. Drying rivers, burning forests, heavy floods and eroding damage infrastructure and spark conflicts and forced migration. Can the economy operate in a way that does not damage the planet? By putting a price on pollution, the economy can stop rewarding activities that are harmful to the planet. Since carbon is the main building block of all living things, pricing carbon offers an opportunity to reinvent the economy, so that regeneration of natural capital becomes profitable for companies than destroying it.

I’m a Credit Manager!
Description of the presentation
Being in a “no man’s land” between finance, business, and clients is a weird and solitary position to be in. As a result, a credit manager may find himself stuck between not two, but three converging flames while being located in an exposed location, Witness to prior clashes between these parties, whose interests may appear to be disparate at times. But the credit manager embraces a perilous and committed mission: pacifying and reconciling these various actors in the utmost interest of the company when it comes to antagonists between financial and commercial, and of the commercial relationship when tensions arise between the seller and his customer. To carry out this ambitious mission, where communication is critical, you will agree that ERP or accounting software, Excel, and Outlook are inadequate weapons. The purpose of My DSO Manager, the SaaS credit management software I have created with my team, aims to fill this void, to connect credit managers, salespeople, and consumers on the same platform, by providing everyone with the information they want and directing them toward the same goal: reconciling the convergent interests of all parties. It is for this reason that our customers benefit from an unlimited number of users, in order to facilitate interactions between sales representatives, customer care center, and credit manager / collectors, particularly for dispute resolution, and to encourage the involvement of management functions (CFO, financial controller, sales management, etc.) on these key aspects of the customer financial relationship. Thus, thanks to interactive emails, customers have one-click access to their portal, where they can find PDFs of their invoices, an Excel-exportable statement of account, payment links to settle their invoices via wire transfer, direct debit, or credit card, and the ability to interact with their collector. Above all, credit management is an issue of communication and understanding of everyone’s interests. My DSO Manager makes it possible to deal with this issue by adding this zealous and sparkling touch that emphasizes the product’s uniqueness. for a successful business relationship. Nevertheless, the credit manager remains an unusual species, always on the razor’s edge. This is what makes it valuable and rare. The principles of credit management are sometimes misunderstood despite the fact that they are critical for any business: they provide a way to improve cash flow through effective collection of receivables, profitability with optimum customer risk management, customer satisfaction with rapid resolution of disputes, and the company’s image by contributing to continuous improvement of the sales process. What other function has such a wide-ranging impact on the business? My DSO Manager’s mission is to democratize the use of collection and credit management software. It’s for this reason that the solution can be set up very quickly and is used by any size of company, thanks to the flexibility and quality of our import module, which receives data from hundreds of ERPs from the majority of countries worldwide. The same principles apply to the functional and ergonomic aspect. My DSO Manager enables customization in automation, an essential condition for success in this job located in the region between trade and finance Where appropriate and high-quality communication, both internal and external is indispensable. No commitment period, singular priority on customer satisfaction and having no salespeople in our group but only experts in credit management and information technology (IT to quote the popular acronym), all of which characterize our firm. Managing multi-entities: real-time group consolidation, multi-currency: all currencies and conversion rates being included, multi-languages: nine for the program, dozens for follow-up languages (e-mails, SMS, letters,…) and so many other features has made My DSO Manager to be used by over 1,400 organizations of all sizes in 85 countries. More than 89 billion euros in receivables have been managed on the platform over the last twelve months! To carry out this particular mission, the credit manager needs a specific tool that responds to the realitis of his/her job by combining automation, intelligence and customization. This is what My DSO Manager is all about.

Challenging and Optimising the Cash Cycle
Description of presentation
In today’s fast-paced business environment, managing cash effectively is more crucial than ever. This presentation aims to provide insights and actionable strategies for optimising your cash cycle.
What is your proudest work related gamechanger moment?
One of my proudest work-related ‘gamechanger’ moments was when we successfully implemented our proprietary risk assessment for our clients. As a B2B receivables management company specializing in high-value and highly sensitive accounts, we understand that traditional methods are often inadequate for the unique challenges our clients face. The development was a mammoth task that involved our tech team, financial analysts, and legal advisors. We wanted to create a solution that would do more than just track payments; it needed to predict potential pitfalls and opportunities in the receivables process, offering proactive strategies to optimize cash flow. For me, this encapsulates everything Baker Ing International stands for: innovation, efficiency, and above all, creating value for our clients in managing their most sensitive and important accounts. It was the moment I knew we were not just meeting expectations but exceeding them, fundamentally changing the way our clients manage their accounts receivable.
What is your personal vision for the next 5 years?
In terms of my personal vision for the next five years, I see it as closely aligned, yet distinct from my professional objectives. First and foremost, I aim to cultivate a leadership style that is not only effective but also empathetic. I believe that the cornerstone of any successful enterprise is its team, and I aim to continue fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. I also aspire to strike a better work-life balance. The demands of leading an international company are many, but personal well-being is crucial for long-term success, both for me and for the team I lead. This includes dedicating time to my family, who are my constant source of inspiration and support. Community involvement is another aspect I’m keen to focus on. I’ve been fortunate to benefit from wonderful mentors and opportunities in my career. I want to give back by mentoring the next generation of leaders, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. Lastly, I intend to focus on my own continuous learning. The finance industry is rapidly evolving, and staying ahead requires constant upskilling. Whether it’s learning about new financial models, technologies, or even soft skills like negotiation and communication, I plan to remain a student in this ever-evolving classroom of life. In summary, my personal vision for the next five years involves becoming a more holistic leader, prioritizing well-being, giving back to the community, and never stopping learning.
What is your professional vision for the next 5 years?
In the next five years, my vision for Baker Ing International is to redefine what it means to be a leader in the B2B receivables management sector. With the rapidly changing financial landscape, accelerated by technological advancements and shifting economic paradigms, staying ahead of the curve isn’t just an objective—it’s a necessity. Firstly, I see us expanding our global footprint. As we continue to excel in managing high-value and highly sensitive accounts, it’s only natural that we extend our expertise to emerging markets, where financial systems are undergoing rapid modernization and reform. Secondly, I plan to prioritize innovation. The successful launch of our proprietary risk assessment is just the beginning. I envision Baker Ing International at the forefront of AI-driven predictive analytics, making our processes more efficient, and providing even more value to our clients. Lastly, I want to invest in our most valuable asset—our people. The success of any organization is defined by the talent it nurtures. Over the next five years, I aim to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and development, equipping our team with the skills they need to excel in a landscape that’s always evolving. Combining global expansion, technological innovation, and human capital development, my vision is to ensure Baker Ing International isn’t just adapting to the changing industry landscape, but setting the pace for it.
What does gamechanging success look like to you in less than 10 words?
Transformative impact on industry, team growth, and client satisfaction.
Name one person you consider a great leader?
One person I consider a great leader is Indra Nooyi. Her tenure as the CEO of PepsiCo was marked by forward-thinking strategies and a focus on both profit and purpose. She successfully balanced the immediate needs of shareholders with the long-term vision of the company, while also prioritizing sustainability and employee well-being. Nooyi’s leadership style reflects the kind of holistic, adaptive, and socially responsible leadership that I strive for in my role at Baker Ing International.
What are the 3 main qualities that makes them great?
Strategic Vision: She had a clear, long-term strategy for PepsiCo that went beyond short-term gains. Her ‘Performance with Purpose’ initiative aimed to deliver top-tier financial performance while being responsive to the needs of the world around us. This kind of vision is critical for steering a company through the complexities of the modern business environment. Emotional Intelligence: Nooyi is known for her empathetic and people-centric leadership style. She took the time to write thousands of letters to employees’ parents to thank them for the ‘gift’ of their children, an incredible gesture that underscores her commitment to seeing the holistic value of every team member. Adaptability: The business world is constantly evolving, and Nooyi showed remarkable adaptability in steering PepsiCo through various challenges. Whether it was the push toward healthier products or navigating economic downturns, she exhibited the flexibility and resilience that are hallmarks of an exceptional leader.
What would you ask them if you could meet them?
If I had the opportunity to meet Indra Nooyi, I would ask her: ‘How did you navigate the tension between driving short-term financial results and implementing a long-term, sustainable vision for PepsiCo? What advice would you give to leaders who are facing similar challenges, particularly in industries like receivables management, where the landscape is rapidly evolving?
What 4 gamechangers would you invite for your perfect dinner party?
Elon Musk: His ability to disrupt multiple industries, from electric cars to space travel, would provide incredible insights into innovation and risk-taking. I’d be particularly interested in his thoughts on the future of technology and how it could impact financial services. Christine Lagarde: As the first woman to head the European Central Bank and the IMF, her perspectives on global finance would be invaluable. Her experience in navigating complex geopolitical landscapes would offer lessons on managing high-value, sensitive accounts across borders. Satya Nadella: Under his leadership, Microsoft has not only remained relevant but has also thrived in new domains. His focus on ‘growth mindset’ has turned Microsoft into a learning organization, a principle I believe can be applied effectively in any industry, including B2B receivables management. Malala Yousafzai: While not directly related to my industry, her tireless advocacy for education and women’s rights serves as a powerful reminder of the broader social responsibilities that come with leadership. Her presence would add a unique perspective on the role businesses can play in societal change.
What is your biggest life lesson from the past 2 years?
The biggest life lesson from the past two years has been the critical importance of resilience and adaptability. The global landscape has been rife with uncertainties, from economic upheavals to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, Baker Ing International had to pivot quickly to address new challenges and fluctuating market demands. This period has underscored for me that no matter how well you plan, unforeseen challenges will arise. It’s not the challenges themselves but how you respond to them that defines your leadership and, by extension, the resilience of your organization. We’ve had to be more agile, lean into digital transformation more aggressively, and above all, ensure the well-being of our team members. Learning to lead through uncertainty has not only been an organizational necessity but a personal growth experience. It has made me a better leader, more attuned to the complexities of the global business environment and the human elements that make a business truly succeed.
