You may be familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect, a piece of socio-psychological research from 20 years ago. It is amusing as a social discussion but critical in business. We all follow this behaviour to some level, and many of us have suffered from the effects. It relates to the level of confidence we can have in an opinion, a plan or decision, with very little domain experience, despite being intelligent people. The expert, on the other hand, is the first to say “I don’t know, it is complicated”.

Black people in many other countries of the Global North have for centuries been fighting for their rights – even their right to life.. This has come to a head recently with the senseless killing of George Floyd in America. There’s a growing sense that this is a tipping point, but what does it mean within the context of wider global struggles for racial injustice? What does it mean for the legacy of Nelson Mandela?

Proudest work achievemnt
Our campaign for justice for Southern African gold miners living with silicosis and tuberculosis due to historic working conditions during apartheid, resulted in over US$400 million in out of court settlement to the miners and their families in 2019.

To be in the forefront of the global fight for racial justice and gender equality, making meaningful contributions, including through my upcoming book.

To work for racial justice and champion wider human rights and
equality, to realise tangible outcomes for millions of people around the world.
